Steven R. Chase, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder
As Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer for Pacific Metrics, Mr. Chase leads the Pacific Metrics technology group. In addition to being the creative lead for software design, he supervises several experienced programming staff to provide data and Web services and support for the company’s programming, Web applications, and data analysis activities. Mr. Chase also advises in many of the technical and practical matters of implementing online software and systems.
A former team leader in the Statistical Services Department of CTB/McGraw-Hill, Mr. Chase’s responsibilities included directing a team of psychometric programmers working on large-scale assessment analyses for statewide programs. He has established many of the procedures and processes for our online assessments and products.
Mr. Chase currently provides technology leadership for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the high stakes Louisiana GEE Online system and the PASS formative assessment system. He is also involved in the design and development of Louisiana’s End of Course online test delivery system, their online Enhanced Assessment for Grade Level Expectations (EAGLE) diagnostic assessment, and Pacific Metrics ORCA™ online assessment delivery system. Mr. Chase has also designed and implemented other online assessments including Practice to Achieve™, an online practice test aligned to the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE); and MiddleMath On-Line™, an online learning system and practice test to support the instruction of key mathematical concepts. He is currently serving as the Project Director for Louisiana’s GEE Online, which was developed under severely compressed timelines to provide Louisiana diploma opportunities for those high school students recently displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Mr. Chase holds a B.S. in Computer Science from California State University, Chico.
