Monterey, CA, May 23, 2016 – Pacific Metrics, a leading provider of assessment technology solutions, has been contracted by the ELPA21 (English Language Proficiency Assessment for the 21st Century) consortium of ten states to provide a broad range of psychometric services to support standard setting.
The ELPA21 Consortium, led by the Oregon Department of Education and managed by the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), is responsible for designing and developing an assessment system for English language learners. This assessment system measures language proficiency across the four primary language domains (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).
Pacific Metrics is providing the ELPA21 Consortium with key psychometric support and is leading a series of educational activities to support standard-setting for new English language proficiency assessments. “It’s not often that you get a chance to work on a standard setting initiative that supports so many states and their students,” states Dr. Daniel Lewis, Principal Research Scientist of Pacific Metrics. “We are really looking forward to engaging with their teachers to establish performance levels, supporting the achievement of their English language learners.”
Pacific Metrics is dedicated to technological innovation and usage of actionable data to assist in student success. The company is well known for its psychometric expertise as well as its industry-leading, web-based educational platforms and programs.
