Pacific Metrics Names Sue Lottridge as Technical Director of Machine Scoring
MONTEREY, CALIF., August 2, 2011—Pacific Metrics Corporation, a leading provider of online assessment solutions, has named Sue Lottridge, Ph.D. as the new Technical Director of Machine Scoring. Previously a Senior Psychometrician with Pacific Metrics, Lottridge will direct the advancements of Pacific Metrics’ automated scoring technology which uses artificial intelligence to automate the scoring of constructed-response test questions.
Lottridge is a highly regarded professional in the field of psychometrics, with numerous published articles and technical reports. In 2008, 2009, and 2010, she was selected to present at the Council of Chief State School Officers’ National Conference on Student Assessment. In her new position, Lottridge will conceptualize and lead research on the performance of the automated scoring technology (the scoring “engine”), publish white papers on her work, and present her findings at professional conferences. In addition, she will manage operational scoring, as well as, monitoring and reporting activities for various programs.

Since joining Pacific Metrics in 2006, Lottridge has been conducting psychometric and statistical analyses, and developing and refining the Pacific Metrics’ automated scoring engine. Previously, she was a Graduate Assistant and intern at the Center for Assessment and Research Studies at James Madison University. In addition, she was an Associate Researcher at the Center for Learning Through Evaluation, Adaptation, and Dissemination. Lottridge holds a Ph.D. in Assessment and Measurement from James Madison University and M.A. degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
